Everyone knows what a rider is and we’ve all heard the stories of outrageous artist riders, thankfully access riders are much more reasonable!
Access riders are documents that outline an individual’s access requirements. They allow performers with access needs – for example, someone with a disability– to communicate their needs to a festival before they arrive for the performance, workshop, or event.
They can help open up conversations about access and save time by giving festival organisers a detailed list of what might be needed to enable artists to do their jobs without assumptions and guesswork. They make the process of creating equal access for everyone easier and faster.
Access riders are becoming more and more of a ‘thing’. But what do they look like and what should you do if you receive one?
In this webinar, MU member and Cheltenham Festivals Innovation Manager Andrew Lansley will take you through why we need access riders, what they look like, how to write one and what you should do if you receive one.
The aim of this workshop is to empower festivals to implement the MU Access Rider as part of their booking process and to proactively ask artists about their access needs, creating amore inclusive music industry for everyone.
Wednesday 5th June, 12pm-1pm
Zoom link to join will be sent morning of the event.
