Music Venue Trust organise petition after closure of key venues due to resident complains

05 Jun 2014

There is a new petition organised by the Music Venue Trust with an aim to gaining over 100,000 signatures to effect change.

The purpose is to ask the government to change the planning legislation so as to take into account the value of live music venues. Many venues are under threat from property developers who build flats nearby and then residents complain about the noise, which means the venue has to close down.

The Blind Tiger venue in Brighton and The Night & Day in Manchester have both recently faced problems after local authorities received complaints from residents about noise, with the former closing last month.
