Hop Farm promoter banned
After being cancelled last year, it seemed that Hop Farm was set for a come back in 2014, despite confusion due to a new unrelated event of the same name. However, last week saw Vince Power banned from staging live music events by London’s High Court.
The BBC reported that Power did not file a defence for the accusation that he had been operating without a PRS license for Hop Farm festival between 2009 – 2012. Power was ordered to pay £7,987 to cover PRS for their legal costs.
31 PRS members performed at 2009’s Hop Farm festival, according to documents submitted to the court, with at least 10 in 2010, 27 in 2011 and 31 in 2012.
Power could be charged with contempt of court which could result in further fines and a prison sentence, should the ban be disobeyed.
