We’ll be rounding up 2019, looking ahead to the rest of 2020, and will also be welcoming our new Board Members! We’re also very pleased to announce Ruth Daniel (CEO & Artistic Director, In Place Of War) will be joining us as a guest speaker, with the afternoon finished off with some drinks.
This is open to all AIF members, friends and external partner organisations. RSVP to phoebe@aiforg.com.
Ruth is an award winning cultural producer and social entrepreneur with over 20 years experience. A former musician who started a Manchester based record label at the age of twenty, then subverted the music industry through pioneering a music movement, Un-Convention, which brought people in the music infrastructure together across the world, to build new models and way of working – focusing on music as culture, rather than music as commerce. Ruth took Un-Convention to 25 countries and produced over 100 editions of the event. This has led her to curate content for festivals such as Primavera Pro (Spain), Shoko Festival (Zimbabwe) and Shambala Festival (UK) and create new festivals in Uganda and Zanzibar. She is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Manchester (UK). Ruth is now CEO and Artistic Director of In Place of War In Place of War, working with creativity in places of conflict as a tool for positive social change across 24 countries.
“I am a huge supporter of In Place of War. From the role music and the arts had in the struggle to end Apartheid, to the healing power of resistance theatre in Palestine, art and culture should never be underestimated as a driver of change.”
