Vento Insurance - Introducing Rainy Day Cover

Rainy Day Insurance is a new product for event organisers to help mitigate losses due to rainfall. Vento is a digital led Event Insurance Specialist making insurance for event organisers easy to understand, simple to buy and fast to claim.

Vento is offering a new cover type for event organisers wanting to protect against rainfall on the day of their event: ‘Rainy Day Insurance’. This is a hugely exciting initiative aiming to enable event organisers to better protect events with premiums based on a series of rainfall thresholds. This cover will be using Athenium Analytics Gridded data which, put very simply, is an algorithm of multiple weather data sources.

Using Festival A as an example: the event is held on the 5th September and gates open at 11:30 with early bird ticket holders having to be in by 2pm. The organisers have decided that should there be 0.5cm of rain in this period of time, they are set to lose a predicted revenue of £50k (this might include on the day sales and/or bar revenue). The event organisers insure this amount (£50k), using Rainy Day Insurance.

So in short, event organisers choose the date and time (11:30-14:00 5th Sept), the level of rainfall (0.5cm) and the amount of cover they would like (£50k). If the thresholds are met, the rainy day insurance claim is valid.

Often events will still run in bad weather but Vento is hoping to protect organisers against losses in all eventualities. We’re so excited about this new cover type and hope given the losses organisers have had this summer due to terrible weather in May, it might be a brilliant option going forward.

Vento founders say:

Freddie Sparrow: ‘’The odds seem increasingly stacked against event organisers at the moment so it’s nice to be able to offer cover for something that often falls between the cracks.’’

Lucy Gore: ‘It’s great that we were able to learn from the consequences of last summer’s bad weather, develop a new product and enhance our offering to clients going forward.’
