Are Festivals ‘Losing Their Connection To The Young’?

Industry representatives on Reeperbahn’s ‘Festival Season 2016/17’ panel believe that many festivals are alienating their audiences by focussing on ‘middle aged, middle class’ attendees instead of younger audiences and that incredibly high price points are excluding 18-19 year olds. Stuart Galbraith (Kilimanjaro Live), thinks young audiences are attending eSports events and live shows by YouTubers instead of festivals and concerts and thinks there’s a gap in the market.
